We are pleased to announce that this year we have chosen to support The Shepherd Centre as our City2Surf charity.

The Shepherd Centre was founded in 1970 for children who are deaf or have hearing impairments. Once diagnosed, their highly trained professionals work with the child and their family providing the support and assistance they need to develop spoken language.

They have specially designed “lean” therapy rooms so that each room across all five locations is exactly the same. This offers the children a familiar place to develop their listening and speech skills. The Shepherd Centre provides support to children and their families all across New South Wales and the ACT. They are also able to provide services selectively to children in Tasmania.

The Shepherd Centre is a non-profit organisation and, with approximately 30% of their funding coming from the government, they rely heavily on donations. We are very proud to be able to support this great course so they can continue with their ongoing research and development.

Fire Safe ANZ was lucky enough to be invited on a tour of the centre so have seen firsthand the wonderful work they do for children and their families and how our fundraising will help. More information can be found on their website, www.shepherdcentre.org.au and we will be posting updates of our fundraising progress on our Facebook Page before the big day!
